
Thomas William Selleck is an American actor from the United States. His most well-known role was that of Thomas Magnum, a private investigator in Magnum, P.I. (1980-1988) during which time he was nominated five times for the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead actor in an Drama Series. He was awarded the award in 1985. Since 2010, Selleck has been co-starring in the role of New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan in the series Blue Bloods. In 2005, he has portrayed an uneasy police chief from a small town Jesse Stone in nine television films based on the Robert B. Parker novels.In films, Selleck has played bachelor architect Peter Mitchell in Three Men and a Baby (1987) and its sequel Three Men and a Little Lady (1990). In addition to his role in Magnum, P.I., Selleck has appeared in over 50 other films and TV shows. Baseball, and Lassiter. He was a regular on television in roles as Monica Geller's love-interest Dr. Richard Burke on Friends as well as Lance White, the likeable and unassuming partner in The Rockford Files, and as the casino's owner A.J. Cooper in Las Vegas. He also played a lead part in the western film The Sacketts, based on two of Louis L'Amour's books.Selleck is a California Army National Guard veteran and a spokesperson for the National Rifle Association (NRA) as well as an endorser on advertisements for National Review magazine, and co-founder of the Character Counts! organization.
