Anita Ekberg

Anita Ekberg is a Swedish actress. She was in numerous films both European as well as American. Her most well-known role is her work in the comedy drama film "La Dolce vita". In 1960 the film was given the Golden Palm and an Oscar by the Cannes Film Festival. The film also achieved critically and commercial success. Her birthplace was Skane and began her career as a model before embarking on her acting career. She eventually won the Miss Sweden Contest. In the US her first appearance was in films playing minor roles. The first role she was credited with was in the movie "Abbott and Costello Go To Mars In the film, she played a Venusian guard. The same year, she won her Golden Globe in the category of "Most Outstanding Newcomer" in recognition of her part in the film "Blood Alley. Throughout her career, she appeared in many other films such as the war-themed American-Italian film 'War and Peace', the Western movie 'Valerie', and the British adventure crime film, 'The man inside", as well as the French-Italian drama "The Dam on the Yellow River'. In the year 2015, she passed away at the age of 83.
